Rigid-Flex PCB Assembly Services

Request PCB fabrication, component sourcing and assembly for your rigid-flex design in one project quote. Share your circuit files, BOM and mechanical requirements so the build, material responsibilities and tests can be reviewed together.

Prototype or production? Include your quantity, installed shape and target date.

UNDERSTAND THE BUILD

Rigid and flexible circuit regions in one board construction.

Rigid-flex PCB assembly populates a circuit that combines rigid regions and integrated flexible connections. Some designs are formed during installation; others move repeatedly in use. Specify the intended motion and mechanical envelope so the construction can be reviewed for that use.

Full turnkey

Request board fabrication, the agreed BOM procurement and assembly together. Define the inspection, programming, functional testing and delivery scope in the quote.

Compare turnkey responsibilities

Partial turnkey

Identify the boards or components you will supply, quantities, packaging and expected arrival dates. Clarify the remaining sourcing and assembly responsibilities.

Plan supplied and sourced parts

Prototype to production

Include the first batch and any planned next quantity. Keep the approved board, BOM and mechanical revisions consistent when moving to repeat builds.

ENGINEERING REVIEW

Bring mechanical requirements into the assembly discussion.

Construction & transitions

Show the rigid and flexible regions, layer stack-up, material requirements, coverlay and transition boundaries. Identify impedance or other electrical requirements that need review.

Installed shape & motion

Provide the mechanical drawing, bend regions, required radius or envelope, and whether the design is formed once or flexes in service. Include nearby enclosure and connector constraints.

Placement & support

Identify populated regions, component heights, panel features and allowed fixture contact areas. Include fragile tails or unsupported sections that need particular handling.

Review the construction and process against the actual design requirements. Layer count, materials, dimensions and schedule are confirmed for the project.

START YOUR ONE-STOP PCBA REQUEST

Request a rigid-flex PCB assembly quote.

Send your requirements for a build review. For full turnkey support, specify fabrication, component sourcing and assembly together; list any materials you will supply.

  • Prototype and production quantities
  • PCB files, BOM and top/bottom placement data
  • Mechanical drawing, bend use and installed shape
  • Target date, destination and sourcing restrictions
  • Inspection, programming and functional test requirements

A useful opening message: “Full turnkey rigid-flex PCBA; [quantity]; [target date and destination]; board/BOM revision [revision]; mechanical drawing available; [programming and testing needed].”

Start with the information available. Files can follow by email; final price and schedule require review of the build scope.

QUOTE FILE CHECKLIST

Connect the electrical, mechanical and purchasing information.

Information for a rigid-flex PCBA quotation
Package What to include
Fabrication files Gerber and drill files, outline, section stack-ups, finish and fabrication notes
Mechanical drawing Rigid/flex boundaries, dimensions, bend regions, installed shape and any forming or enclosure constraints
BOM & sourcing Exact manufacturer part numbers, reference designators, quantities per board, do-not-fit parts, supplied parts and approved alternatives
Assembly data Placement coordinates, rotation, component side, assembly drawings, orientation and variant notes
Inspection & tests Required checks, programming files, test procedure, fixtures, access points and pass/fail criteria
Build & delivery Quantity, target date, destination, material responsibilities and any documentation or packaging requirements

If a file is missing, tell us what is ready and which requirements still need to be defined. This helps the team identify the questions needed for a final quotation.

COMPARE THE COMPLETE PROJECT

Agree cost, test coverage and schedule before release.

The reviewed construction, BOM availability, build quantity, assembly preparation and agreed tests affect the quotation. Compare setup and fixture costs separately from repeat build costs. Confirm purchasing responsibilities and approve proposed substitutions before an order is released.

State the acceptance criteria and documentation your project needs. Board checks, assembly inspection, programming and functional testing address different requirements; confirm which are included rather than assuming a service label defines the test coverage.

RIGID-FLEX PCBA QUESTIONS

Before you request assembly.

Is rigid-flex the same as a flexible circuit with a stiffener?

Rigid-flex integrates rigid and flexible circuit regions in its construction. A stiffener provides local mechanical support to a flex circuit. Identify the intended structure in the stack-up and mechanical drawing for review.

Can I request fabrication, component sourcing and assembly together?

Yes. Describe a full turnkey rigid-flex PCBA request and include the fabrication package, BOM and assembly data. The agreed quote defines the materials, assembly, checks, testing and delivery responsibilities.

Can every rigid-flex board bend repeatedly?

Repeated motion needs a design and construction suited to the service conditions. State the required motion, bend regions and mechanical constraints; a board intended to be formed during installation should be reviewed separately.

What information is needed for a prototype quote?

Start with the quantity and available files. Fabrication data, BOM, placement files and the mechanical requirements are needed to define the complete build. Include any next batch so preparation and material planning can be discussed.

How do I specify functional testing?

Provide the procedure, pass/fail criteria, firmware or programming instructions, and fixture or connector access requirements. Discuss preparation, coverage and reporting as part of the quote.

How are price and lead time confirmed?

The team reviews the construction, files, quantity, BOM availability and test scope. Confirm the quoted price, schedule and any remaining assumptions before approving purchasing and production.
