OrinewPCB · Build to your approved design

Custom PCB Assembly Services

Bring your PCB files, BOM and assembly requirements together. OrinewPCB reviews custom projects for PCB fabrication, component sourcing and assembly, with programming and test work defined in the quotation.

Share your quantity, target date and any special assembly instructions. Files still in progress? Start with your application and sourcing scope.

Custom PCB assembly explained

Build the board and assembly scope your project requires.

What is custom PCB assembly? It is the assembly of your specified circuit board using an approved BOM and agreed manufacturing instructions. The scope may include PCB fabrication, component purchasing, assembly variants, connector installation, programming and defined tests. Confirm the included work and open requirements in the quotation.

Design-specific manufacturing requirements

Define what makes your assembly different.

Board Specification

Provide the approved outline, stack-up, material, copper, finish and fabrication notes. Identify any panel, rail or handling requirements that need review.

Packages and Connectors

Share complete part numbers, placement data, polarity and connector orientation. Flag packages or special operations that require process review.

Assembly Variants

Mark do-not-populate positions and the BOM for each variant. State whether firmware, programming or test instructions differ between builds.

Manufacturing feasibility, package requirements and the practical schedule are reviewed for the specific design. Share drawings and requirements before relying on a quoted build plan.

One-stop or shared sourcing

Choose who supplies the boards and components.

Full Turnkey PCBA

Ask us to coordinate PCB fabrication, purchasing the agreed BOM and assembly. Identify approved alternatives and any restrictions on substitutions.

Partial Turnkey PCBA

Supply selected boards or parts and identify the remaining items to source. Include material quantities, packaging and expected arrival dates.

Bare PCB Fabrication

If you only need custom bare boards, specify that in the inquiry. Send fabrication files and the board requirements without assuming assembly is included.

Review PCB fabrication

Prepare a consistent build package

What should you send for a custom PCBA quotation?

  • Gerber and NC drill: approved board revision and fabrication requirements.
  • BOM: reference designators, manufacturer part numbers, quantity per board and DNP positions.
  • Pick-and-place / CPL: board side, position and rotation, with a matching assembly drawing.
  • Special instructions: connector orientation, assembly variants, handling or additional operations.
  • Project scope: quantity, sourcing responsibilities, target date, destination and required tests.

Agreed acceptance requirements

Specify inspection, programming and functional tests.

Discuss the manufacturing checks needed for the packages and assembly operations on your board. Define firmware, programming instructions, test connections and pass/fail criteria where functional testing is required.

  • Agree on inspection coverage and any required evidence.
  • Identify firmware versions and programming procedures.
  • State who supplies fixtures and what preparation is included.
  • Record first-article approval and change-control requirements.

Assembly inspection alone does not demonstrate every product function. The quotation should describe the checks and deliverables included for your project.

Prototype, batch and repeat build

Keep revisions connected as the order changes.

Provide the first-build quantity and the expected next batch. Keep board files, BOM, placement data, firmware and test instructions on the approved revision. Resolve material substitutions and changes before releasing another build.

Custom assembly questions

Before you release your project.

Can a custom assembly quote include PCB fabrication and components?

Yes, you can request both under a full turnkey scope. Send the board files and BOM so fabrication requirements, availability and sourcing responsibilities can be reviewed.

Can I supply parts I already purchased?

List the exact part numbers, quantities, packaging and arrival dates. Identify which remaining items you want sourced and confirm the material responsibilities in the quote.

Can I request different assembly variants?

Provide a clearly identified BOM and DNP list for each variant, plus the related assembly, firmware and test instructions. Feasibility and pricing are reviewed against the specific requirements.

Does custom PCB assembly include design or reverse engineering?

Do not assume those activities are included in an assembly quote. Explain the files or samples you have and ask which data preparation or engineering work is available before agreeing on the build scope.

What affects the price and schedule?

Board requirements, component availability, quantity, assembly complexity and agreed programming or test work affect the quote. Provide your target date and confirm the schedule after file and material review.
