Aluminum PCB Manufacturing & Turnkey Assembly
Connect the aluminum board specification to the way your product is mounted and cooled. OrinewPCB combines PCB manufacture, original-component sourcing and turnkey assembly for lighting, power and other approved customer designs.
A common single-sided aluminum-backed PCB has copper circuitry, an electrically insulating dielectric and an aluminum base. The base can help spread heat, while the dielectric, mounting interface and cooling arrangement determine the complete thermal path. The approved stack-up defines the actual construction.
Define the dielectric and mounting interface, not only “aluminum”
For a comparable quotation, identify the board construction and how heat leaves the assembly. A dielectric thermal-conductivity number by itself does not describe the thermal resistance of the finished board or the temperature of a component. Keep electrical insulation and mechanical requirements visible in the drawing.
| Review item | What to provide | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Base construction | Aluminum grade where mandatory, base thickness and complete layer drawing. | Confirms the physical construction rather than assuming a standard FR4 covering. |
| Dielectric | Approved material, thickness, relevant thermal data and isolation requirements. | Thermal performance and electrical insulation need to be considered together. |
| Mounting interface | Contact surface, holes, countersinks, flatness and heat-sink/interface arrangement. | Heat must leave the board through the actual installed interface. |
| Circuit and finish | Finished copper, pads, solder mask, surface finish and edge/metal clearances. | The geometry and insulation design must remain compatible with assembly and mounting. |
| Assembly and verification | BOM, component polarity, soldering instructions and electrical/thermal acceptance conditions. | A passing bare-board net test does not demonstrate installed thermal behavior. |

Coordinate soldering, optics and the heat-sink interface
For LED and power assemblies, provide component orientation, exposed thermal-pad instructions and keep-out areas for optics, screws or thermal contact. A thermally conductive board can alter the assembly heating requirement. The soldering process should follow the approved board and component constraints rather than simply copying a profile from an unrelated FR4 assembly.
- Release the aluminum-backed stack-up and dielectric requirement.
- Mark mounting surfaces and dimensions that affect contact with the heat sink.
- Supply exact LED, driver and power-device MPNs and any bin requirements.
- Identify pads, insulation areas and surfaces that must stay clear during assembly.
- Agree the operating load, ambient and mounting arrangement for requested thermal checks.
Specify the conditions behind a thermal acceptance limit
State where temperature is measured, the operating load and how the assembly is cooled. Identify whether the supplied scope includes only the PCB assembly or also a heat sink, interface material and enclosure. A board measured in free air and a board installed on the intended heat sink are different test arrangements. Keep the agreed setup and pass/fail limits with the released build documents.

Quality from the bare PCB to the finished assembly
Every bare PCB we manufacture receives flying-probe electrical testing, not just a sample. Include the netlist where available and identify the required electrical-test records in your RFQ. Bare-board electrical testing checks manufactured networks; it is distinct from assembly inspection and finished-circuit functional validation.
OrinewPCB supplies and uses 100% brand-new, original, genuine electronic components in customer turnkey assemblies. Our manufacturer and distributor cooperation helps us seek competitive BOM prices and practical delivery options. Confirm full MPNs, source restrictions, documentation and current availability for your project. Proposed alternatives require your approval.
Nine PCBA quality stages
Our assembly quality workflow covers nine stages, with the applicable inspection scope agreed for the build:
- IQC: incoming material checks.
- SPI: solder paste inspection.
- Online AOI: in-line optical inspection.
- SMI: first-article inspection.
- IPQC: in-process quality checks.
- Offline AOI: post-solder optical inspection.
- X-ray: hidden-joint inspection to the agreed scope.
- Manual QC: workmanship review.
- Pre-shipment QA: identification, quantity and packaging checks.
These are nine quality stages, not nine functional tests on every assembly. Programming, ICT, functional testing and application-specific validation need agreed procedures, access or fixtures and pass/fail criteria. See our factory and quality workflow.
One review for your board, BOM and assembly release
Small-to-medium batches and high-mix turnkey PCB assembly are core OrinewPCB strengths. Ask us to review PCB fabrication, component purchasing and assembly against the same design revision. If you only need bare PCBs or specific components, identify that scope in your request.
PCB manufacturing
Approved materials and construction, with every manufactured bare board flying-probe electrically tested.
Genuine BOM sourcing
100% brand-new original genuine components, with exact MPNs and customer-approved alternatives.
Turnkey PCBA
Coordinate the board, sourcing, assembly and agreed inspection, programming or functional-test requirements.
Our cooperation with manufacturers and distributors helps us seek competitive BOM prices and practical availability. Compare complete-build quotations using the same material, BOM, quantities, documentation and test scope. Prices and delivery are confirmed for the actual release; no component substitution is assumed.

Protect the target date with a complete release
We prioritize quality and the earliest practical delivery for the agreed build. Provide quantities by model, required delivery date and any critical component restrictions. Distinguish dispatch from arrival, and identify whether a smaller first batch or staged delivery is useful. Material availability, engineering approvals, component sourcing and test readiness affect the confirmed schedule.
For an urgent project, include the non-negotiable requirements and first-build priorities. See our quick-turn planning guidance and request a schedule review with your files.
Request a Aluminum PCB & turnkey PCBA review
Tell us whether you need bare PCBs, BOM sourcing or complete turnkey assembly. For an initial discussion, describe the application; files can follow once the scope is clear.
- Released PCB files and fabrication drawing
- BOM with full MPNs, placement data and assembly drawing
- Quantity for each model/variant and target delivery date
- Aluminum/dielectric stack-up and electrical-isolation requirements
- Mounting drawing, thermal interface and intended test arrangement

Aluminum PCB & Assembly FAQ
Is every aluminum PCB covered with standard FR4?
No. A common insulated metal substrate uses a thermally conductive insulating dielectric between copper and aluminum. Specify the actual material and construction rather than assuming a generic FR4 layer.
Can aluminum replace the heat sink?
That depends on the complete thermal design. The board, interface, heat sink or chassis and ambient conditions form a thermal path. Do not assume that an aluminum base alone provides adequate cooling.
Can you source the LEDs and assemble the aluminum board?
Yes. Send the full BOM, LED ordering codes and any bin rules, fabrication files, placement data and acceptance requirements. We review the turnkey scope together.
What should I provide for a faster quotation?
Provide the stack-up, dielectric requirement, outline and mounting holes, BOM, quantity by variant and target date. Include the cooling interface and test conditions if thermal evaluation is part of the request.
