Quick answer

A Rogers PCB uses a specified Rogers circuit-material grade. “Rogers” alone is not a complete procurement specification: identify the product, dielectric thickness, copper foil and approved stack-up. Different material families need different manufacturing and design assumptions.

Specify the grade and design assumptions before comparing quotes

RO4003C and RO4350B are examples of reinforced hydrocarbon/ceramic laminates; they are not PTFE. Other Rogers families use different systems. Confirm the exact grade and construction rather than treating all Rogers materials as interchangeable. Trademark names identify materials, not an endorsement or authorized relationship with our company.

Inputs for an equivalent, reviewable quotation
Review item What to provide Why it matters
Exact laminate Full material designation, thickness and mandatory versus proposed-equivalent status. An informal brand-only note does not define an equivalent RF build.
Electrical data Design Dk, process Dk where relevant, frequency and test method used by the design. A datasheet process value and a design value can differ; do not substitute one without review.
Copper and stack-up Foil type/profile, copper thickness, layer construction and bonding material. Copper and construction affect the manufactured transmission line and fabrication scope.
RF features Controlled impedance, launches, critical line geometry, via structures and mechanical tolerances. Identify what needs controlled manufacture and what evidence is required.
Acceptance scope Bare-board electrical test, impedance coupon requirements and any assembled RF test procedure. Continuity, impedance checks and RF system performance are different checks.

Release the RF board and BOM as one controlled project

A material-correct bare board is only one part of an RF assembly. Preserve the exact component ordering codes, package and land-pattern requirements, connector geometry and any special soldering or cleaning instructions. Mark the critical paths and agree the acceptance evidence before production. Material or component alternatives need a defined approval route.

  1. Provide the approved grade, stack-up and fabrication drawing.
  2. Identify copper foil and dielectric thickness requirements, not only board thickness.
  3. List controlled-impedance nets and coupon/report requirements where needed.
  4. Supply exact RF component and connector MPNs with approved-source restrictions.
  5. Define RF test frequencies, fixtures, calibration responsibility and pass/fail limits if testing is requested.

An RF test plan needs more than “test the board”

State which assembly behavior must be verified and under what conditions. Include port definitions, operating configuration, firmware, required fixtures and the measurement limits. We review the requested work before confirming the quotation. Bare-board flying-probe testing does not establish insertion loss, antenna performance or assembled RF compliance.

Quality from the bare PCB to the finished assembly

Every bare PCB we manufacture receives flying-probe electrical testing, not just a sample. Include the netlist where available and identify the required electrical-test records in your RFQ. Bare-board electrical testing checks manufactured networks; it is distinct from assembly inspection and finished-circuit functional validation.

OrinewPCB supplies and uses 100% brand-new, original, genuine electronic components in customer turnkey assemblies. Our manufacturer and distributor cooperation helps us seek competitive BOM prices and practical delivery options. Confirm full MPNs, source restrictions, documentation and current availability for your project. Proposed alternatives require your approval.

Nine PCBA quality stages

Our assembly quality workflow covers nine stages, with the applicable inspection scope agreed for the build:

  1. IQC: incoming material checks.
  2. SPI: solder paste inspection.
  3. Online AOI: in-line optical inspection.
  4. SMI: first-article inspection.
  5. IPQC: in-process quality checks.
  6. Offline AOI: post-solder optical inspection.
  7. X-ray: hidden-joint inspection to the agreed scope.
  8. Manual QC: workmanship review.
  9. Pre-shipment QA: identification, quantity and packaging checks.

These are nine quality stages, not nine functional tests on every assembly. Programming, ICT, functional testing and application-specific validation need agreed procedures, access or fixtures and pass/fail criteria. See our factory and quality workflow.

One review for your board, BOM and assembly release

Small-to-medium batches and high-mix turnkey PCB assembly are core OrinewPCB strengths. Ask us to review PCB fabrication, component purchasing and assembly against the same design revision. If you only need bare PCBs or specific components, identify that scope in your request.

PCB manufacturing

Approved materials and construction, with every manufactured bare board flying-probe electrically tested.

Genuine BOM sourcing

100% brand-new original genuine components, with exact MPNs and customer-approved alternatives.

Turnkey PCBA

Coordinate the board, sourcing, assembly and agreed inspection, programming or functional-test requirements.

Our cooperation with manufacturers and distributors helps us seek competitive BOM prices and practical availability. Compare complete-build quotations using the same material, BOM, quantities, documentation and test scope. Prices and delivery are confirmed for the actual release; no component substitution is assumed.

Protect the target date with a complete release

We prioritize quality and the earliest practical delivery for the agreed build. Provide quantities by model, required delivery date and any critical component restrictions. Distinguish dispatch from arrival, and identify whether a smaller first batch or staged delivery is useful. Material availability, engineering approvals, component sourcing and test readiness affect the confirmed schedule.

For an urgent project, include the non-negotiable requirements and first-build priorities. See our quick-turn planning guidance and request a schedule review with your files.

Request a Rogers PCB & turnkey PCBA review

Tell us whether you need bare PCBs, BOM sourcing or complete turnkey assembly. For an initial discussion, describe the application; files can follow once the scope is clear.

  • Released PCB files and fabrication drawing
  • BOM with full MPNs, placement data and assembly drawing
  • Quantity for each model/variant and target delivery date
  • Exact Rogers grade, foil, bonding materials and approved stack-up
  • Impedance/RF test requirements and any fixture or calibration inputs

Rogers PCB & Assembly FAQ

Are all Rogers PCBs made from PTFE?

No. Rogers offers different material systems. For example, RO4003C and RO4350B are hydrocarbon/ceramic laminates. Use the exact approved grade in the manufacturing documentation.

Should I use process Dk or design Dk?

Use the value and method appropriate to the approved electrical design. These values can differ. Keep the material, construction and frequency assumptions documented and have changes reviewed by the responsible engineer.

Can you quote components and assembly with the Rogers board?

Yes. Provide the board files, approved stack-up, full BOM, placement data and inspection/test requirements. We review the complete scope and current sourcing options.

Does every RF assembly automatically receive RF performance testing?

No. Flying-probe bare-board testing and assembly inspection do not replace an agreed RF test. Supply the procedure, fixtures and limits so that scope can be reviewed and quoted.
