OrinewPCB · Components + turnkey PCB assembly

Keep resistor purchasing aligned with the circuit and footprint. OrinewPCB can source resistors as individual line items, a complete BOM or part of a turnkey PCB assembly project.

100% new, original, genuine components. Exact parts, approved alternatives and a quotation based on your requirements.

What to know before purchasing: A resistor provides resistance in a circuit for functions such as biasing, current sensing or setting signal levels. Its procurement specification extends beyond resistance: package, tolerance, temperature behavior, voltage and power or pulse limits can all be relevant.

Resistors for PCB and Product Projects

General-purpose SMD resistors

Specify resistance, tolerance, package and the full approved part number. Avoid an ambiguous package code: the same numeric size label can be interpreted in different size systems.

Precision and current-sense resistors

Record the performance that the circuit needs, including tolerance and temperature coefficient where relevant. Current-sense parts may also require a specific terminal arrangement and approved sensing footprint.

Power and pulse-handling resistors

Check the manufacturer’s power derating and pulse information for the application. Continuous wattage alone does not establish that a part can survive the required transient voltage or energy.

100% New, Original, Genuine Components

OrinewPCB’s supply commitment covers the electronic components we sell and the components we supply for our turnkey PCB assembly builds. We do not supply used, refurbished or remarked components.

We work with component manufacturers and distribution partners to offer competitive purchasing and lead-time options. Our reputation is built around supplying the approved parts and communicating the actual purchasing conditions clearly.

Tell us your required date/lot conditions, packing, labeling or supporting documentation before ordering so the available evidence and requirements can be confirmed for the quotation. We do not replace a released BOM part with an unapproved alternative.

Resistors Specification and Purchasing Checklist

Use the approved manufacturer data and your released design to define the requirement. The following inputs help us prepare a useful quotation and identify questions that need engineering approval.

Confirm the exact part and the conditions that matter to your build
InputWhat to specifyWhy it matters
Resistance and toleranceNominal resistance and approved tolerance. Both affect circuit behavior and acceptable substitutions.
Technology and part numberFull approved code and resistor technology if constrained.Different technologies can have different performance limits.
Package and dimensionsSize system, dimensions, terminal layout and footprint. An abbreviated size code is not a complete mechanical specification.
Power and temperatureDissipation requirement and ambient/board conditions.Use the applicable derating curve rather than nominal wattage alone.
Voltage and pulsesWorking voltage and required pulse conditions.Power, pulse energy and voltage limits must be checked separately.
Stability and packingTCR/stability requirements, packing and quantity.Precision circuits and assembly planning need complete inputs.

Do Not Replace a Resistor by Ohms and Package Alone

A replacement may match resistance and outline while changing temperature coefficient, working-voltage limits or pulse capability. Preserve the parameters that matter to the actual circuit. For power parts, compare the operating temperature and mounting arrangement with the manufacturer’s rated conditions.

Prepare a Resistors Quotation

  1. Send the approved requirement

Provide full manufacturer part numbers or the BOM revision, quantity basis, packing and destination. Identify open specifications and any fixed constraints.

  2. Review the sourcing options

Confirm quoted identity, quantity, price, availability and lead time. Review proposed alternatives separately and approve changes before the order or build is released.

  3. Connect purchasing to the build

For turnkey PCBA, align the BOM with fabrication files, placement data and the assembly drawing. Define programming and testing needs explicitly.

Example Inquiry Wording

Please quote the resistor part numbers in our BOM, including the specified tolerances and package sizes. Precision and current-sense lines must retain their stated TCR and terminal arrangement. Power and pulse requirements are attached. Quote component sourcing and assembly of the same board revision.

Resistors Sourcing FAQs

Are two resistors with the same value and size interchangeable?

Not automatically. Compare tolerance, technology, power and voltage ratings, temperature coefficient and any relevant pulse or stability requirements. Approve substitutions against the circuit’s needs.

Why does a resistor’s power rating need derating?

The stated power rating applies under specified temperature and mounting conditions. The allowable dissipation can decrease as temperature rises. Use the exact part’s derating curve and consider the board’s thermal conditions.

Can you quote a complete resistor BOM for assembly?

Yes. Provide manufacturer part numbers or a fully defined approved specification, quantity per board and build quantity. Include the PCB and placement files if assembly is required.

Are the components supplied by OrinewPCB new and genuine?

Our supply commitment is 100% new, original, genuine electronic components. It also applies to components we supply for our turnkey PCB assembly builds. We do not supply used, refurbished or remarked parts.

How are pricing and lead times confirmed?

Send the exact part number, quantity, packaging, destination and requested date. Our manufacturer and distributor relationships support competitive sourcing options; actual price, availability and lead time are confirmed for the quoted items and quantities.

What should I send for a components or turnkey PCBA quote?

For components, send exact manufacturer part numbers or a BOM with quantities and requirements. For turnkey assembly, add PCB fabrication files, placement data and the assembly drawing. Include any programming and testing scope before production is released.
