A clear manufacturing inquiry
What should you include in your message?
- Quantity and build stage: prototype, next batch or repeat production.
- Supply scope: PCB fabrication, component purchasing and assembly; identify any materials you will supply.
- Files: Gerber and drill data, BOM, pick-and-place / CPL and assembly drawing when available.
- Checks: inspection, programming, functional test procedure and fixture requirements.
- Timing: target delivery date and destination.
A short starting message:
“We need [quantity] assembled boards for [application]. Please quote [full turnkey / partial turnkey]. Our files are [ready / in progress]. Required tests: [details]. Target date and destination: [details].”
Keep the PCB, BOM and placement data on the same revision. Clearly identify approved alternatives, DNP positions and unfinished files.

Request coordinated PCB fabrication, purchasing the agreed BOM and assembly. Specify substitutions and the inspection or test scope in your inquiry.
Partial Turnkey PCBA
Identify the boards or components you will supply and the remaining items you want sourced. Include quantities, packaging and expected arrival dates.
PCB or Components
For bare PCBs, share fabrication data and board quantity. For electronic parts, send full manufacturer part numbers and required quantities.

Confirm the scope before the build.
Project files, material availability, quantity and required tests determine the manufacturing quotation. Identify open questions so the included work and schedule can be reviewed.
Programming, functional tests and fixtures should be specified. Assembly inspection alone does not establish that every product function has been tested.

Can I contact you before my files are complete?
Yes. Describe your application, quantity, expected sourcing scope and target date. Identify the files still in progress. Final pricing and production release depend on the approved build package and material review.
What if I only need PCBs or electronic components?
Specify that scope in your message. For PCBs, provide fabrication files, specifications and quantity. For components, include full manufacturer part numbers and required quantities.
What should I send if I need functional testing?
Include the test procedure, pass/fail criteria, firmware version and fixture requirements. The quotation should confirm the included preparation and test coverage.
