PCB Fuse Sourcing for Circuit Protection

OrinewPCB · Components + turnkey PCB assembly
Source the approved fuse or protection part for your PCB build. OrinewPCB supports component purchasing and BOM sourcing, with PCB fabrication and assembly available within a turnkey inquiry.
100% new, original, genuine components. Exact parts, approved alternatives and a quotation based on your requirements.

What to know before purchasing: A conventional fuse is an overcurrent-protection component designed to interrupt current under specified fault conditions. Its selection depends on more than rated current: voltage, interrupting capability, time-current behavior and the circuit’s operating conditions matter.
Fuse for PCB and Product Projects
SMD and board-mounted fuses
Specify the exact fuse, package and footprint. Check the applicable voltage and current ratings, time-current curve and fault-interruption requirement for the board’s actual circuit.
Cartridge and leaded fuses
Define the approved dimensions, mounting or holder arrangement and response type. Include the holder as its own line item if it is needed; a fuse and a complete fuse assembly are different purchasing scopes.
Resettable protection devices
PPTC devices and conventional fuses have different behavior. If the design uses a resettable device, specify its exact part and operating conditions rather than treating it as an interchangeable one-time fuse.
100% New, Original, Genuine Components
OrinewPCB’s supply commitment covers the electronic components we sell and the components we supply for our turnkey PCB assembly builds. We do not supply used, refurbished or remarked components.
We work with component manufacturers and distribution partners to offer competitive purchasing and lead-time options. Our reputation is built around supplying the approved parts and communicating the actual purchasing conditions clearly.
Tell us your required date/lot conditions, packing, labeling or supporting documentation before ordering so the available evidence and requirements can be confirmed for the quotation. We do not replace a released BOM part with an unapproved alternative.
Fuse Specification and Purchasing Checklist
Use the approved manufacturer data and your released design to define the requirement. The following inputs help us prepare a useful quotation and identify questions that need engineering approval.
On a phone, swipe this table sideways to see every column.
| Input | What to specify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Approved part and technology | Full manufacturer code; conventional fuse or resettable device. | Different protection technologies do not behave identically. |
| Rated current and temperature | Normal operating current, ambient conditions and required derating. | The selected part must tolerate intended operation. |
| Voltage and circuit type | Applicable AC/DC voltage and rating. | An AC rating must not be assumed valid for an arbitrary DC circuit. |
| Fault interruption | Required interrupting/breaking capability at the applicable voltage. | Current rating and fault-interruption capability are different parameters. |
| Response and transients | Time-current curve, inrush and I²t requirements where relevant. | The protection must coordinate with normal transients and fault conditions. |
| Package and mounting | Size, footprint, holder or terminal details. | The delivered protection part must fit the released assembly. |
Do Not Buy a Fuse by Amperes Alone
Confirm the voltage and fault-interruption requirement alongside current and response characteristics. Compare any proposed substitute against the complete protection requirement and manufacturer guidance. Component sourcing does not replace the product team’s circuit-protection design and acceptance review.
Prepare a Fuse Quotation
Send the approved requirement
Provide full manufacturer part numbers or the BOM revision, quantity basis, packing and destination. Identify open specifications and any fixed constraints.
Review the sourcing options
Confirm quoted identity, quantity, price, availability and lead time. Review proposed alternatives separately and approve changes before the order or build is released.
Connect purchasing to the build
For turnkey PCBA, align the BOM with fabrication files, placement data and the assembly drawing. Define programming and testing needs explicitly.
Example Inquiry Wording
Please quote the exact fuse/protection part in our BOM. Preserve the specified AC/DC voltage, rated current, response and breaking-capacity requirements. Package or technology changes need approval. Include the required holder if listed and assembly of the attached PCB revision.

Fuse Sourcing FAQs
Can a fuse with the same current rating be substituted?
Not on that basis alone. Check voltage, AC/DC application, interrupting capability, response, transient behavior, temperature conditions and mounting details before approving a replacement.
Are resettable PPTC devices equivalent to conventional fuses?
No. They use different protection mechanisms and have different operating and post-trip characteristics. Specify the technology approved for the circuit and review an alternative as a design change.
Can you source fuses for a complete turnkey PCB assembly?
Include the exact fuse and any holder part numbers in the BOM. Provide the PCB and assembly files and specify any protection or functional acceptance test needed for review.
Are the components supplied by OrinewPCB new and genuine?
Our supply commitment is 100% new, original, genuine electronic components. It also applies to components we supply for our turnkey PCB assembly builds. We do not supply used, refurbished or remarked parts.
How are pricing and lead times confirmed?
Send the exact part number, quantity, packaging, destination and requested date. Our manufacturer and distributor relationships support competitive sourcing options; actual price, availability and lead time are confirmed for the quoted items and quantities.
What should I send for a components or turnkey PCBA quote?
For components, send exact manufacturer part numbers or a BOM with quantities and requirements. For turnkey assembly, add PCB fabrication files, placement data and the assembly drawing. Include any programming and testing scope before production is released.
