Share your board files, BOM, quantity and project requirements.

TURNKEY PCBA EXPLAINED

What is turnkey PCB assembly?

Turnkey PCB assembly brings PCB fabrication, BOM purchasing and component assembly into one agreed manufacturing scope. OrinewPCB coordinates these stages so you can review the material plan, assembly requirements and delivery schedule together.

Full turnkey means we source the agreed PCBs and components. Partial turnkey means you supply specified materials. Programming and functional testing are defined separately against your procedure; they are included when agreed in the quote.

CHOOSE YOUR SUPPLY SCOPE

Full turnkey or partial turnkey?

The right option depends on which materials you already have and which purchasing tasks you want us to manage. Both options can support prototypes and production builds.

Project responsibility Full turnkey Partial turnkey
Bare PCBs We coordinate fabrication to your approved files. You supply the PCBs, or ask us to fabricate them.
Components We source the agreed BOM. You supply specified parts; we source the remaining agreed items.
Assembly & inspection We assemble and inspect to the agreed scope. We assemble and inspect to the agreed scope.
Before the quote Send fabrication files, BOM and assembly requirements. Also identify your supplied materials, quantities and arrival dates.

WHAT THE SERVICE COVERS

From your design package to assembled boards.

PCB Fabrication

Board material, stack-up, surface finish and fabrication details reviewed against your design.

PCB manufacturing →

BOM Sourcing

Review manufacturer part numbers, purchasing quantities and availability. Proposed substitutions need your approval.

SMT & Through-Hole

Single-sided, double-sided and mixed assembly planned for the packages and board layout in your project.

Assembly services →

Inspection & Testing

Discuss AOI, X-ray, programming and functional testing. Fixtures, firmware and acceptance criteria are confirmed by project.

PLAN YOUR BUILD

A clear workflow before production.

1. File & BOM Review

Share revision-controlled files. We review manufacturability, BOM completeness and component availability.

2. Confirm the Quote

Agree on material responsibilities, substitutions, quantity, schedule and the inspection or test scope.

3. Fabricate & Assemble

Coordinate the approved PCB fabrication, procurement and assembly plan.

4. Inspect & Deliver

Complete agreed inspections and tests, then prepare the finished assemblies for shipment.

QUOTE PREPARATION

What to include in your project package.

  • PCB files: Gerber and NC drill files; include stack-up and fabrication notes.
  • BOM: reference designators, manufacturer, full part numbers, quantities and do-not-fit items.
  • Placement data: pick-and-place/CPL file, board origin, side and rotation; include assembly drawings.
  • Build details: order quantity, delivery target, finish, solder requirements and supplied materials.
  • Test instructions: firmware, programming procedure, fixture needs and pass/fail criteria.

Keep the BOM, placement data and board files on the same revision. Incomplete files can be reviewed before a final quote.

BOM & BUILD REVIEW

Resolve sourcing questions before production.

Control the Revision

Use the same board revision in Gerber, BOM, placement and assembly files. Mark do-not-fit positions and variant-specific parts clearly.

Approve Material Changes

Identify approved alternatives and parts that must not be changed. Review shortages, minimum purchase quantities and substitutions before committing to procurement.

Plan Samples & Production

Send both the first-build quantity and the next batch quantity. This helps compare setup work, material purchasing and test preparation across the two stages.

COST & SCHEDULE

What determines a turnkey PCBA quote?

PCB specifications, BOM cost and availability, board quantity, assembly complexity and test scope affect both price and delivery. Tooling, programming and test fixtures can add preparation time. Tell us your deadline so the team can check what is practical before you commit.

PROJECT QUESTIONS

Before you send your files.

Can I send components I already purchased?

Yes. List the exact parts and quantities you will supply, their packaging and expected delivery date. The team can review material suitability and any remaining procurement needs.

Will components be replaced without my approval?

Specify your approved alternatives in the BOM. Any proposed change outside those instructions should be reviewed and approved before purchasing or production.

Does a quote include functional testing?

Tell us the required test scope. Functional testing may need your procedure, firmware and a fixture; these requirements should be included in the project quote.

Can you quote a prototype before a production batch?

Yes. Provide the prototype quantity and your expected production quantity so sourcing, assembly and test preparation can be discussed for both stages.

START WITH YOUR REQUIREMENTS
