OrinewPCB · SURFACE MOUNT ASSEMBLY
SMT PCB Assembly Services
Surface mount assembly for prototypes, small batches and production. OrinewPCB combines component placement, reflow and inspection with PCB fabrication and BOM sourcing when you need a turnkey build.
Send Gerber files, BOM, placement data and quantity for a project review.
BUILD OPTIONS
SMT assembly matched to your board.
Single-Sided SMT
Surface-mount components are assembled on one side of the board. Share your layout, component packages and panel requirements for review.
Double-Sided SMT
Boards with components on both sides require a planned process sequence. Include bottom-side placement data and any handling or soldering constraints.
SMT & Through-Hole
Combine SMT devices with through-hole connectors or other parts. Assembly drawings help define soldering access and the order of operations.
ONE-STOP PCBA
Add PCB fabrication and component sourcing.
Choose full turnkey assembly when you want OrinewPCB to coordinate bare PCBs, BOM procurement and assembly. For partial turnkey, tell us which boards or components you will supply.
Identify approved substitutes, parts that must not be substituted, and any consigned material. This makes the purchasing responsibility and build schedule clear before production.
CUSTOMER PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Engineering review for mining-equipment PCBA
A mining-equipment customer reports that the engineering team proposed Gerber changes and supplied a visual comparison document. Production updates helped the customer follow the build; the delivered assembly met their expectations.

Need an engineering review before your PCBA build?
Send your board files, BOM and placement data. Identify any layout, sourcing or test questions you want resolved before production.
Build scope, material availability and delivery are confirmed for your project.
SMT PROCESS
From production files to assembled boards.
1. File & Material Review
Review the Gerber files, BOM, placement data, board revision and supplied materials. Resolve package, polarity and assembly instructions before release.
2. Solder Paste Printing
A stencil deposits solder paste onto the PCB pads. Paste application and the stencil plan are matched to the board layout and component requirements.
3. Component Placement
Pick-and-place equipment positions surface-mount components using the placement data. Orientation and reference designators must agree with the assembly package.
4. Reflow Soldering
The board passes through a controlled thermal profile to form solder joints. Component temperature limits and the solder requirements guide the process.
5. Assembly Inspection
Inspect component placement and visible solder joints using the agreed inspection process. X-ray inspection can be specified for joints that cannot be assessed optically.
6. Agreed Tests & Release
Carry out the electrical, programming or functional checks included in the project scope, then release the boards against the agreed acceptance criteria.
QUALITY PLAN
Inspection and functional testing have different jobs.
AOI and visual inspection help assess component placement and visible solder joints. X-ray helps inspect hidden connections, including BGA joints. These checks do not by themselves prove that a circuit performs its intended function.
Define your inspection scope.
Identify critical devices, hidden solder joints and required acceptance criteria. Share any special handling or inspection instructions with the board files.
Define your test scope.
For electrical or functional testing, provide the procedure, test points, fixtures, firmware and pass/fail limits as applicable. Availability and scope are confirmed during the project review.
QUOTE & LEAD TIME
What determines SMT assembly cost and delivery?
Board & Component Complexity
Placement count, package types, assembly sides, stencil requirements and any special handling affect the build plan and cost.
Sourcing & Quantity
PCB fabrication, component availability, batch quantity and customer-supplied material affect both pricing and scheduling.
Inspection & Testing
Programming, inspection coverage, test fixtures and functional requirements add project-specific work. Send your target date with the complete files.
SMT QUESTIONS
Before you request an SMT assembly quote.
What is SMT PCB assembly?
Surface mount technology places and solders components directly onto PCB pads. It can be used on one or both sides of a board and combined with through-hole assembly.
Can you provide turnkey SMT assembly?
Yes. A turnkey project can include PCB fabrication, component procurement and SMT assembly. Partial turnkey is available when you supply selected materials.
Can you review BGA or fine-pitch components?
Send the package list, footprint details and board layout for review. Capability, process requirements and inspection scope are confirmed for the actual design.
What files do you need for an SMT quote?
Send Gerber files, a BOM with manufacturer part numbers, pick-and-place/CPL data, quantities and assembly drawings. Include sourcing responsibilities, solder requirements and any inspection or test procedure.
How long does SMT assembly take?
Lead time depends on the board requirements, material availability, quantity and agreed tests. Share your target delivery date so the team can confirm a feasible schedule.
