High-volume PCB assembly brings repeat board builds, component purchasing, assembly and agreed verification into one controlled production plan. A useful quote needs more than a total board quantity: include the released PCB and BOM revisions, quantity per variant, delivery batches and test requirements.
OrinewPCB coordinates turnkey PCB assembly, from PCB fabrication and BOM sourcing to assembly and shipment preparation. Our particular strength is small-to-medium batches and high-mix builds. For larger or repeat production, send your actual requirements so we can confirm the suitable build plan, material availability and schedule.
What counts as high-volume PCB assembly?
There is no single board quantity that defines high volume for every project. One stable design built repeatedly needs a different production plan from the same total quantity split across many variants. Component mix, board complexity, test time, release frequency and the delivery schedule all affect the route and quotation.
Keep the quantity for each part number visible. A forecast describes expected demand; a released order authorizes a defined purchase and build. Specify which quantities and dates are firm before materials are purchased.
| Build pattern | Main planning need | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| Stable repeat production | Maintain an approved revision, sourcing plan and repeatable acceptance criteria across releases. | Quantity per release, expected repeat demand, approved BOM and delivery batches. |
| Small-to-medium batch | Balance setup, material procurement and testing against the immediate build requirement. | First quantity, likely next batch and any changes expected after evaluation. |
| High-mix production | Keep variant BOMs, do-not-fit positions, firmware and labels separate and consistent. | Quantity per variant, revision matrix, shared parts and variant-specific instructions. |
| Prototype moving to production | Close engineering changes and approve the release package before committing repeat materials. | Prototype findings, approved changes, first production quantity and validation plan. |
For multiple designs in smaller batches, use our low-volume, high-mix PCB assembly service. If the design is still being evaluated, start with prototype PCB assembly.
PCB fabrication files, BOM, placement data and variant instructions.

Full turnkey sourcing with new, original components
Our supply policy is 100% brand-new, original, genuine electronic components. The same policy applies to the components we source for customers’ turnkey PCB assemblies. OrinewPCB is building a long-term brand, so component authenticity and clear purchasing responsibilities matter throughout the project.
We work with component manufacturers and distributors to seek competitive pricing and practical lead times for your BOM. Existing inventory and supplier availability are checked against the exact manufacturer part number, packaging, quantity and project requirements. Availability and delivery dates are confirmed in the quote; they are not assumed from a general inventory claim.
Keep the approved BOM
Identify full manufacturer part numbers, quantities per board and permitted sources. Ask for the sourcing and traceability documentation your project requires during quotation.
Approve alternatives first
A lower price or earlier date does not authorize a substitute. Review fit, function, package and any qualification requirements with the customer before approval.
Plan repeat materials
Separate immediate build quantities from future demand. Agree any minimum-order quantities, excess material ownership and repeat purchasing commitments.

Compare the complete PCBA cost, not only placement price
The lowest assembly line item may exclude boards, components, setup, fixtures or tests. Compare quotes against the same revision, quantity, sourcing responsibility and acceptance scope. A larger quantity can spread some setup costs across more units, but material availability, complexity and testing still affect the total.
| Cost or responsibility | Ask the supplier to identify |
|---|---|
| PCB fabrication | Material, stack-up, finish, panel requirements and any special fabrication work included. |
| Components | Approved MPNs, source restrictions, availability, permitted alternatives, packaging and excess material treatment. |
| Setup and tooling | Stencil, programming, carriers or fixtures; whether charges are one-time, per revision or repeated. |
| Assembly operations | SMT sides, through-hole components, connectors, manual operations and variant handling. |
| Inspection and tests | Applicable inspection stages, X-ray coverage, programming, ICT or functional tests and the required records. |
| Delivery | Build completion versus dispatch or arrival date, batch releases, packaging, destination and shipping scope. |
Use the PCB assembly cost breakdown to prepare your comparison, then request a quote for the complete turnkey scope.
Nine quality stages, with test coverage defined for your build
Our PCBA quality workflow covers nine stages from incoming materials to shipment. Confirm the applicable inspection plan, acceptance criteria and required records for the actual assembly:
- IQC: incoming material inspection.
- SPI: solder paste inspection.
- Online AOI: in-line optical inspection.
- SMI: first article inspection.
- IPQC: in-process quality checks.
- Offline AOI: optical inspection after soldering.
- X-ray: hidden-joint inspection to the agreed scope.
- Manual QC: visible workmanship and assembly review.
- Pre-shipment QA: identification, quantity and packaging checks.
These stages are not nine electrical or functional tests. Optical and X-ray inspection do not establish that every circuit function operates correctly. Programming, ICT and functional testing need an agreed procedure, fixture requirements and pass/fail criteria where included. Do not assume universal X-ray or functional-test coverage from a general quality statement.
Review our factory and quality workflow and describe your required inspection and tests with the RFQ.
Protect delivery dates with a controlled release package
We aim to arrange the earliest practical delivery for the approved scope. The reliable way to plan it is to review files, material availability and test preparation together. Specify whether your target means production completion, dispatch or arrival at your location.
- Release matching files. Use the same approved revision for the Gerber/drill files, BOM, placement data and assembly drawing.
- List quantities per variant. Include firmware, labels, do-not-fit positions and scheduled delivery batches.
- Resolve material constraints. Identify long-lead items, approved alternatives and customer-supplied material arrival dates.
- Define verification. Supply programming instructions, test procedure, fixtures or test access, and acceptance criteria.
- Confirm the first production release. Agree first-article review and the handling of changes before the next batch.
For the handover, use the prototype-to-production release checklist. If timing is critical, discuss quick-turn requirements before committing to a customer delivery date.
Request a production PCBA and BOM review
Send OrinewPCB your board files, BOM, quantity per variant and target date. Tell us whether you need PCB fabrication, component sourcing and assembly together, or will supply selected materials.
- Released Gerber/drill files and fabrication requirements
- BOM with full MPNs, placement data and assembly drawings
- First order, repeat quantities and delivery batches
- Inspection, programming and functional-test requirements
- Destination, packaging and any required purchasing documentation
Files are optional for an initial discussion. For direct email: [email protected]. A quotation review does not authorize purchasing, substitutions or production.
High-volume and repeat PCBA questions
Is there a fixed minimum quantity for high-volume PCB assembly?
The appropriate route depends on the design, component mix, variant count, testing and release schedule. Share quantities per design rather than relying on one universal quantity threshold. We confirm the suitable scope and commercial terms after review.
Can you support smaller batches or many product variants?
Yes. Small-to-medium batches and high-mix turnkey PCBA are a particular strength of OrinewPCB. Identify the quantity, BOM, firmware and instructions for each variant so the scope can be quoted clearly.
Are the components used in turnkey assemblies new and genuine?
Our policy is to supply and use 100% brand-new, original, genuine components. Specify your manufacturer part numbers, sourcing restrictions and documentation needs in the RFQ. Alternatives require customer approval before purchasing.
Does a larger order always have a lower total cost per board?
Not automatically. Some setup costs may be distributed across more units, while BOM availability, material commitments, assembly complexity, testing and delivery batches still affect the complete quote. Compare the same scope and revision.
Do the nine quality stages include functional testing on every board?
No. The nine-stage workflow covers material, process, assembly and shipment checks. Define electrical or functional testing separately, including the procedure, test access or fixture, firmware and pass/fail criteria. Inspection coverage is confirmed for the actual build.
How should we plan repeat orders and delivery batches?
Separate firm releases from forecasts. Send quantity per release, required arrival or dispatch dates, expected demand and approved revisions. Agree material purchasing commitments, excess stock ownership and any engineering change before the next build.
Can OrinewPCB quote bare PCBs or BOM sourcing separately?
Yes. State whether you need bare PCB fabrication, components, assembly from supplied materials, or a full turnkey build. This keeps the quote comparable and the purchasing responsibilities clear.
