PCB Connector Sourcing for Reliable Assembly

OrinewPCB · Components + turnkey PCB assembly
Get the right connector and mating components into your PCB build. OrinewPCB can review exact connector part numbers within a component order, BOM sourcing request or turnkey assembly inquiry.
100% new, original, genuine components. Exact parts, approved alternatives and a quotation based on your requirements.

What to know before purchasing: A PCB connector creates a removable electrical connection between a board and another board, cable or external device. Procurement needs to match the mating system, footprint, orientation and electrical requirements—not just the number of contacts.
Connector for PCB and Product Projects
Board-to-board connectors
Confirm both mating part numbers, pitch, pin count, stacking height and orientation. The completed mechanical arrangement must fit the enclosure and board spacing, not only the PCB footprint.
Wire-to-board systems
Identify housing, contacts, PCB header and any accessories separately. Specify wire size and termination requirements when requesting a cable assembly; buying a housing does not necessarily include contacts.
Interface and power connectors
Specify the approved interface or power connector, mounting style and retention features. Review current, voltage and thermal conditions for the application rather than assuming every similar connector has the same rating.
100% New, Original, Genuine Components
OrinewPCB’s supply commitment covers the electronic components we sell and the components we supply for our turnkey PCB assembly builds. We do not supply used, refurbished or remarked components.
We work with component manufacturers and distribution partners to offer competitive purchasing and lead-time options. Our reputation is built around supplying the approved parts and communicating the actual purchasing conditions clearly.
Tell us your required date/lot conditions, packing, labeling or supporting documentation before ordering so the available evidence and requirements can be confirmed for the quotation. We do not replace a released BOM part with an unapproved alternative.
Connector Specification and Purchasing Checklist
Use the approved manufacturer data and your released design to define the requirement. The following inputs help us prepare a useful quotation and identify questions that need engineering approval.
On a phone, swipe this table sideways to see every column.
| Input | What to specify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Mating system | Manufacturer series and both plug/receptacle part numbers. | Similar-looking housings may not belong to the same mating system. |
| Geometry | Pitch, contacts, stacking height and straight/right-angle orientation. | Enclosure fit and board clearance need more than a pin count. |
| PCB mounting | SMT or through-hole, pin layout and mechanical hold-down details. | The purchased connector must match the released footprint. |
| Electrical conditions | Current, voltage, signal interface and operating environment. | Ratings depend on the product and stated test or use conditions. |
| Contacts and accessories | Terminal part numbers, plating, wire size and locks or retainers. | The connector order needs to include every required item. |
| Packing and assembly | Tape/reel or tray format, insertion and any cable termination scope. | Assembly planning depends on the delivered component format. |
Check the Entire Connection Before Accepting an Alternative
A replacement can fit the PCB while failing to mate with the existing cable, latch or enclosure. Review the connector pair and mechanical drawing together. For power connections, check the manufacturer’s current-rating and derating information against ambient temperature, circuit loading and PCB conditions.
Prepare a Connector Quotation
Send the approved requirement
Provide full manufacturer part numbers or the BOM revision, quantity basis, packing and destination. Identify open specifications and any fixed constraints.
Review the sourcing options
Confirm quoted identity, quantity, price, availability and lead time. Review proposed alternatives separately and approve changes before the order or build is released.
Connect purchasing to the build
For turnkey PCBA, align the BOM with fabrication files, placement data and the assembly drawing. Define programming and testing needs explicitly.
Example Inquiry Wording
Please quote the PCB connector and mating housing/contact part numbers in the attached BOM. Pitch, pin mapping, orientation and plating must match the approved design. List any proposed alternatives separately. Please include sourcing and assembly of the matching PCB revision.

Connector Sourcing FAQs
Is the same pitch and pin count enough to approve a replacement?
No. Check mating compatibility, pin mapping, contact system, keying, orientation, retention and electrical ratings. A visually similar connector is not automatically interchangeable.
Can you source housings, contacts and PCB headers together?
Include every required part number and quantity in the inquiry. Tell us whether you need loose components, a cable assembly or connectors installed on a complete PCBA so the required scope can be reviewed.
Why do connector current ratings need an application check?
The stated rating is tied to the manufacturer’s test conditions. Ambient temperature, simultaneous contact loading, wiring and PCB construction can affect heating. Use the applicable product specification and derating guidance for the actual design.
Are the components supplied by OrinewPCB new and genuine?
Our supply commitment is 100% new, original, genuine electronic components. It also applies to components we supply for our turnkey PCB assembly builds. We do not supply used, refurbished or remarked parts.
How are pricing and lead times confirmed?
Send the exact part number, quantity, packaging, destination and requested date. Our manufacturer and distributor relationships support competitive sourcing options; actual price, availability and lead time are confirmed for the quoted items and quantities.
What should I send for a components or turnkey PCBA quote?
For components, send exact manufacturer part numbers or a BOM with quantities and requirements. For turnkey assembly, add PCB fabrication files, placement data and the assembly drawing. Include any programming and testing scope before production is released.
