SMT processing materials play a vital role in the quality and productivity of SMT processing and are one
of the basics of SMT processing. When designing SMT processing and establishing a production line, it is
necessary to select appropriate processing materials according to the production process and process
requirements. SMT processing materials include welding materials, flux
paste, adhesives, and other welding and patch materials,
as well as flux, cleaners, heat-converting materials,

(1) Welding materials and flux paste
Welding materials are the key structural materials in the surface assembly process. Different types of
welding materials are used in various application scenarios. They are used to connect the metal surfaces
of the objects to be welded and produce spot welding. Reflow welding uses flux paste, a welding
material, and can also use its viscosity to pre-fix SMC/SMD.
(2) Flux
Flux is an important processing material in surface assembly. It is one of the primary factors affecting
the quality of welding. It is required in various welding methods, and its main function is assisting
with welding.
(3) Adhesive
The adhesive is the bonding material in surface assembly. When using the wave welding process, adhesive
is generally used to pre-fix the electronic device patch on the PCB. When assembling SMD on both sides
of the PCB, even if reflow welding is used, adhesive is often applied in the middle of the PCB solder
layer pattern to improve the fixation of the SMD and prevent the SMD from moving and falling during
assembly operations.
(4) Cleaner
Cleaner is used to clean the waste left on SMA after welding in surface assembly. Under the current
technical conditions, cleaning is still an indispensable part of the surface patch processing
technology, and organic solvent cleaning is the most effective cleaning method.
SMT processing materials are the basis of the surface mounting process. Different assembly processes and
